Vice President says census data crucial for future development

Vice President Faisal Naseem has stated the data gathered through the Maldives Population and Housing Census 2022 is crucial for ascertaining the growth of the population and its various characteristics and planning future developmental activities across the nation. He made the statement while speaking to officials and enumerators of the Maldives Statistics Bureau (MBS) during a visit to the Census 2022 centre in Hulhumale’.

Speaking to officials and enumerators, Vice President Naseem said the data would greatly assist in long-term developmental planning and formulating policies to cater to the socio-economic needs of the population, especially in the housing sector. He noted a large percentage of the volunteers working as enumerators are youth and spoke about the experience of participating in a national event of such importance. He went on to thank the staff of MBS and the enumerators.

Vice President Naseem also inspected the progress of the data collection operation during his visit and noted the support of the public for the process. In concluding his remarks, he called for increased cooperation from the public towards this national event.
