The Maldives has held the first 100% green energy event fully powered with solar energy, with electricity provided by portable power stations.
The Third Edition of Mamen Inter-School Cycling Championship 2022 took place over two days from September 16-17 at the Hulhumale’ Phase 2, Cycling Track. More than 1000 cyclists participated from over 32 schools and over 450 young children participated in the 1K Fun Ride. The medals were awarded to all Fun Ride participants upon completion of the ride by the Special Guest of the event Sports Veteran Ibrahim Ismail, Dhiraagu Brand Ambassador Hassan Saaid along with key members from Dhiraagu and Bike Maldives.
The event was organised by Dhiraagu and Bike Maldives, along with supporting partners, including the Housing Development Corporation (HDC), Maldives Police Service (MPS), Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), Aerosalts, Chopart Maldives and ILAA Maldives with volunteers from the Girl Guides Association of the Maldives. First Aid services were provided by volunteers from the Maldivian Red Crescent (MRC), Hulhumale’ Hospital, and Maldives National University (MNU) School of Nursing.
The awards ceremony of the Third Edition of Mamen Inter-School Cycling Championship 2022 will be held later. Three male and female winners will be chosen from each competitive category as well as three winning teams from each Mixed Team Pursuit age category. Additionally, a Champion School will also be chosen from each age category.
Dhiraagu said it remains committed to supporting and organising events that are both environment-friendly and contribute to the development of young children and youth in the community.
