RDC building sidewalks for Thinadhoo road development project

Thinadhoo Island Council has stated Road Development Corporation (RDC) is currently building the sidewalks as part of the road development project.

RDC is tasked with paving the asphalt on 14 roads for the second phase of the road development project in Thinadhoo, Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll. The company is working with the island council to speed up the project.

Speaking to PSM News, President of Thinadhoo Island Council Saud Ali said the progress of the work is slower than expected due to the pumps and cables on the roads. He noted that pumps had to be installed on the sides of the roads due to the cable placement and they are obstructing road development. He said discussions are being held to solve the issue and that RDC is now paving the asphalts on some roads.

Additionally, Saud said RDC is developing the roads after making changes to the design that involves managing the pumps and cables. As such, he said the workers are currently building the sidewalks, and paving the asphalt will begin immediately afterward.

Numerous projects are ongoing in Thinadhoo including efforts by the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Technology to solve the frequent flooding issues.
