Census 2022 to continue until September 27

Maldives Bureau of Statistics (MBS) has extended the Census 2022 period until September 27.

The census period was initially scheduled for September 13-14 and from September 17-25. As such, the listing operation is carried out from September 13-14, and the main data collecting operation will continue from September 17-25.

In a statement published, MBS revealed listing process is not yet completed due to few enumerators available in the Greater Male' Region. Therefore, MBS said the listing process will continue until September 17, and the deadline for obtaining detailed information for the census has been extended until September 27. The enumerators began compiling a list of households and businesses for the census on September 13.

Furthermore, MBS has appealed to all citizens to cooperate with the census as the information collected is crucial for national development. The nationwide census is conducted every 10 years to assess the situation of the country and collect information to facilitate the planning of future projects.
