The Spokesperson at the President’s Office Miuvaan Mohamed has revealed the National Day would be celebrated on Utheemu, Haa Alifu Atoll, and that the National Awards ceremony would be held on October 20.
Speaking at a press conference held at the President’s Office, Spokesperson Miuvaan noted that President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has decided the official receptions for National Farmers' Day and World Food Day would be held in Kaashidhoo, in Kaafu Atoll, and the 42nd National Fishermen’s Day would be celebrated in Faresmaathodaa, Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll this year, based on the recommendation from the Cabinet of Ministers. He also emphasised that President Solih had appealed for public support in gathering information for the ongoing Census 2022.
At the press conference, Miuvaan highlighted the outcomes of the Viavathi Raajje Conference held in Gan, Laamu Atoll, key points from the president’s remarks at the official function held to mark the 130th anniversary of the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) and the remarks at the first annual Maldives Broadcast Award 2022.
Briefing the media on upcoming events of the government, Miuvaan said the president would depart for the United Kingdom (UK) to attend the funeral of the late Queen Elizabeth II. He also noted that the Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid would be leading the Maldivian delegation in the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) held in New York City, United States (US).
Spokesperson Miuvaan also answered questions from journalists and clarified various public interest issues at the press conference.
