Maldives and Singapore discuss creating community-focused police service

Vice President Faisal Naseem has discussed creating a police service that is focused on the community with the Singapore Police Force. He held the discussions with Commissioner of Singapore Police Force Hoong Wee Teck at the President’s Office.

At the meeting, Vice President Naseem and Police Commissioner Teck discussed potential areas of cooperation, particularly in capacity building and creating a police service that is focused on the community. They also agreed to share acquired knowledge and experience after recognising the parallel difficulties encountered by the police services of both countries.

Furthermore, Vice President Naseem deliberated on the longstanding bilateral relations between both countries and thanked the Government of Singapore for its continuous support and assistance to the Maldives Police Service (MPS) throughout the years. He was accompanied at the meeting by Foreign Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ahmed Latheef and Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed.
