Dhiggaru Shore Protection project handed over to MTCC

Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure has contracted the Shore Protection Project in Dhiggaru, Meemu Atoll, to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).

The agreement was signed by the Permanent Secretary at the Planning Ministry Zeeniya Hameed and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MTCC Adam Azim. The contract was awarded to establish shore protection in the reclaimed area in Dhiggaru. Under the project, geo tube revetment will be installed in an area of ​​1,470m. The project must be completed within 210 days and the project costs USD1.89 million.

Previously, the Dhiggaru land reclamation project was also contracted to MTCC in November 2020. The project involves the land reclamation of 25 hectares of land in Dhiggaru and building a rock-boulder revetment around the reclaimed area. The project is worth USD7.9 million.
