The Bar Council of the Maldives has begun reviewing a complaint regarding former Vice President Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed. The Bar Council began reviewing the complaint on August 30.
The complaint, filed by an individual named Mohamed Anees, is regarding statements former Vice President Jameel had made to judges while acting as an attorney during a hearing held at the Supreme Court of the Maldives. In the complaint, the individual claimed that Jameel’s statements had violated the laws and regulations established for attorneys.
The court case is related to a family business owned by Jameel’s wife which was handed over to another party. The case is currently in the High Court and the Supreme Court.
