Umar Zahir assumed national tasks without excuses: Vice President

Vice President Faisal Naseem has revealed that the recipient of the Order of the Distinguished Rule of Izzuddin and State Dignitary Umar Zahir was a hero who assumed national tasks without excuses. He made the remarks at the launching ceremony of the memoir on the life of the late Umar Zahir. The book, Namoona Shahsiyatheh, is an initiative of the Maumoon Foundation.

At the ceremony, Vice President Naseem said the services of Umar Zahir is seen in every sector, noting that he played a major role in bringing the progress seen today. He noted Umar Zahir set an example by taking initiatives on solving waste issues, reclamation of Hulhumale', and many other issues of concern considering those as his personal matters.

Furthermore, Vice President Naseem said the book in memory of Umar Zahir notes all his qualities, which youth should learn from. The vice president said that his good manners and his invaluable efforts were visible throughout his life.

Former President Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom also spoke about the life and services of Umar Zahir.

The memoir was written by journalist and writer Mohamed Jameel.
