MBS requests public to display household name boards for Census

Maldives Bureau of Statistics (MBS) has asked citizens to ensure that name boards are displayed outside households to facilitate the work of the census.

The bureau is seeking the full cooperation of the public in gathering information for the census. Data will be collected from selected households and service providers from the list which will be compiled on September 13-14. MBS requested houses and workplaces to display the names to facilitate the teams to compile the list.

Minister of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure Mohamed Aslam has stated that Census 2022 is crucial for national development and appealed to all citizens to participate in the programme as part of their national duty.

The population census is a count of all individuals and household units across the country. During the census, data will be collected on the income and living conditions of the public. The last census in the Maldives was conducted in 2014. Census is the largest survey conducted in the country.

The population census for 2022 will begin on September 17 and MBS is holding necessary training sessions across the Maldives. The full report of the census will be published on National Statistics Day, which falls on October 20.
