Maldives and Bangladesh discuss foreign service collaboration

The Maldives and Bangladesh have discussed ways to strengthen collaboration on foreign services between the two countries. The discussions took place during the official visit of Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ahmed Khaleel to Bangladesh.

During his official visit, State Minister Khaleel visited the Foreign Service Academy of Bangladesh where he was received by Ambassador Asad Alam Siam, the Rector of the Foreign Service Academy. They discussed ways to strengthen collaboration between the Foreign Service Academy of Bangladesh and the Foreign Service Institute of Maldives. During the visit to the academy, State Minister Khaleel had an interactive session with young Foreign Service Officers from Bangladesh and conversed on topics and issues such as climate change, bilateral cooperation, and post-pandemic recovery successes.

During his visit, State Minister Khaleel also called on the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh Dr. A.K. Abdul Momen and met with the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh Md. Shahriar Alam. In the meetings, State Minister Khaleel reflected on the long, historic, and close relations between the Maldives and Bangladesh, which have been elevated to new heights in the last two years. He further discussed avenues to enhance cooperation and engagements between both countries, in areas of mutual importance.

Furthermore, State Minister Khaleel also visited the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum to pay his respects and homage to the memories of the Father of the Nation.
