Bank of Maldives (BML) has agreed to establish a dedicated oncology ward at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by the Acting Managing Director of BML Aishath Noordeen and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of IGMH Ibrahim Saleem. BML agreed to establish the oncology ward as part of a series of 12 high-impact monthly community initiatives to celebrate its 40th anniversary. BML will provide USD228,000 in financing for the project.
At the signing ceremony, Aishath Noordeen said the initiatives of BML have focused on a number of important sectors in the country which now include providing support to fill a critical need in the health sector. She said the project will see the establishment of a dedicated ward for cancer patients and expressed hope it will enhance access to safe and high-quality oncology services to those in need.
Meanwhile, Ibrahim Saleem expressed gratitude to BML for the donation towards the establishment of a ward dedicated to cancer patients. He said the donation will enhance the hospital’s services in providing better and advanced treatment for cancer patients. He said IGMH is committed to accomplishing its goal of making cancer treatment more widely accessible to all needed.
