Parliament dismisses Sergeant-at-Arms

Parliament of the Maldives has removed Sergeant-at-Arms Mohamed Haleem from the position.

Sergeant-at-Arms Haleem was dismissed after he was suspended for over one and a half years following a case under investigation. However, the Parliament did not disclose details of the case.

Haleem was dismissed after the General Committee of the Parliament submitted a report on his conduct. He was removed with votes from 25 parliamentarians.

Haleem was first appointed as the Sergeant-at-Arms on November 19, 2013. He was appointed for a second term on October 3, 2019.
