Water supply and sewerage services begin in Kinolhas

Fenaka Corporation Limited has begun water supply and sewerage services in Kinolhas, Raa Atoll.

Deputy Regional Manager Badheeu Hussain said that Fenaka is currently conducting a test trial and that households are not being charged. He also said the residents of the island now have access to clean water and that the water testing equipment will be brought in soon.

Male’ Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) completed the water supply and sewerage project, connecting 140 households in Kinolhas to the water supply network, and 139 households to the sewerage network. As part of the project, an 11.8km long water supply network and a 7.3km long sewerage network have been established at a cost of USD2.3 million. The sewerage services will officially begin after 25% of the junctions are built in the households.

MWSC completed the project and handed it over to the government in June. Fenaka stated that it has not been officially tasked with handling the water supply and sewerage services but is overseeing its operations.
