Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) of the Maldives and the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Brunei have held discussions to work together as well as exchange information and expertise to strengthen their work. The discussions were held during a virtual meeting with the members of the anti-corruption agencies.
Speaking at the meeting, President of ACC Adam Shamil highlighted the importance of working with other countries and establishing networks with regional anti-corruption agencies as part of the commission’s efforts to strengthen its work. He said Brunei is exceptional in working with its citizens to eliminate corruption and that the commission will benefit from gaining its experience, expertise, and technical assistance.
At the meeting, President of ACB Hajah Anifa binti Haji Abdul Ghani said that small states such as the Maldives and Brunei stand to benefit greatly from working together to fight corruption, emphasising the importance of continuing to hold such meetings. She assured that ACB will provide details on its policies and other information requested by ACC and invited the members of the commission to visit Brunei to hold discussions for further collaboration.
