President vows to address challenges faced by local councils

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has assured the administration will address the challenges faced by local councils following the new amendments to the Decentralisation Act. He made the remarks at a meeting with the Addu City Council at the President’s Office.

At the meeting, President Solih and the council members discussed the ongoing developmental work and needs of the residents. The council members noted that Addu City is one of the cities with the highest number of ongoing developmental projects.

Furthermore, the council members expressed their gratitude to President Solih for the close attention he accords to the development and needs of the people of Addu. They also shared concerns and discussed ways to address budget constraints, housing needs, infrastructure development projects, and other social issues.

Additionally, President Solih said he will discuss ways to address the concerns raised at the meeting with relevant government stakeholders. He assured the administration will work with relevant stakeholders to address the challenges faced by local councils following the new amendments to the Decentralisation Act.
