Minibus trial run conducted in Male’ City

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has conducted a trial run of the Raajje Transport Link (RTL) minibus service in Male’ City.

MTCC stated that the purpose of the trial run was to physically experience the bus routes to improve the customer experience before the service officially commences. The trial run was conducted with officials from MTCC, Male’ City Council, and the Maldives Police Service (MPS).

MTCC has been clearing streets and establishing bus stops in Male’ City to commence the minibus service. The state-owned company stated that the service will be free-of-charge for the first two weeks.

MTCC brought in 36 minibuses on July 16 and plans to use 12 of the buses for service in Male’ while 24 minibuses are being used in the atolls. The minibuses have a capacity of 20-25 passengers and are designed for easy access and travel for people with disabilities. The state-owned company is currently operating minibuses in Laamu Atoll, Fuvahmulah City, and Addu City.
