Gov’t receives over 10,000 applications for land plots

Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure has received over 10,000 applications for land plots in the Greater Male’ Region under the Binveriyaa housing scheme.

The planning ministry opened applications for land plots for citizens of Male’ City under the Binveriyaa housing scheme on June 26 and will be accepting applications until September 26. The ministry plans to give out 5,000 land plots under the Binveriyaa scheme, which include 1,000 land plots from Hulhumale' phase II, 2,000 land plots from Gulhifalhu, and 2,000 land plots from Giraavaru.

Minister of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure Mohamed Aslam said that the development of 10,627 housing units is ongoing in the Greater Male’ Region, including 5,445 affordable housing units. He also said that the development of 1,520 housing units are ongoing in 14 islands.

Furthermore, Minister Aslam said 237 applications have been submitted for the Affordable Housing Loan Scheme, out of which 143 applications have been approved and 124 applicants will soon receive their loans. He further said that the current administration does not plan to postpone or delay any of its projects, adding that it had completed the development of the Hiyaa flats and handed over the apartments to the owners.
