Minister of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure Mohamed Aslam has said individuals who have migrated from islands and registered in the special list can apply for land plots from the Greater Male' Region.
Speaking at the Parliament of the Maldives in response to the questions posed on the requirements, Minister Aslam revealed there are no plans from the government to make amendments to the requirements. He highlighted the plan is to issue land plots from the Greater Male' Region for the citizens of Male' City and those who are registered in the special list after migrating. Therefore, he noted residents from other regions of the Maldives are not eligible to apply for land plots issued from the Greater Male' Region.
The government has opened applications for 3,000 land plots from Hulhumale' and Gulhifalhu under the Binveriyaa housing scheme and 4,000 housing units in Hulhumale’ under the Gedhoruveriyaa housing scheme. The two housing schemes are dedicated to citizens of Male’. Applications for both schemes have been opened through the newly launched housing application portal Gedhoruverin.
