Shan nominated as Non-Resident Ambassador to six countries

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has nominated the Ambassador of the Maldives to Germany Aishath Shan Shakir to be appointed as Non-Resident Ambassador to six more countries.

If approved by the Parliament of the Maldives, Ambassador Shan will be appointed as the Non-Resident Ambassador to Russia, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Ukraine. Non-Resident Ambassadors are appointed to countries that do not have an Embassy.

The Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Relations unanimously voted to approve the appointment of Shan as the Ambassador to Germany after reviewing her nomination on April 25. Shan is the first female to serve as the Chief of Protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She previously served as the High Commissioner to Bangladesh. She had also served as the Deputy High Commissioner to Malaysia, and the Deputy Ambassador to Saudi Arabia in addition to other top positions.
