Three individuals have been injured after a platform being used for fieldwork at the Thilamale’ Bridge project site ran aground.
Maldives Police Service (MPS) stated three individuals are being treated at the hospital and that it has received no information that they were seriously injured. MPS also stated an investigation is ongoing following the incident.
The fieldwork for the Thilamale’ Bridge under the Greater Male' Connectivity Project (GMCP) is currently being conducted between Male’ City and Villimale’. Two platforms have been established in two areas of the project site. Videos of the incident showed that one of the platforms had run aground on the reef of Villimale’.
Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation has prohibited the use of Male'-Villimale' channel due to the ongoing fieldwork of the GMCP.
