Addu City Council allocates 23 more plots for tourism

Addu City Council has allocated an additional 23 land plots under the Tourism Zone Development Project.

The land plots were handed over by Mayor of Addu City Ali Nizar. As such, six land plots were allocated from Hithadhoo Tourism Zone, two land plots from Hithadhoo Tourism Zone, eight land plots from Hulhudhoo Tourism Zone, and seven land plots from Meedhoo Tourism Zone. It is the third time that Addu City Council has allocated land for tourism development under the project.

Earlier, 31 land plots to be developed as tourist hotels and guesthouses were leased from five major tourism development zones allocated in Addu. These were the first 31 plots to be opened for tender, among the 93 plots allocated for tourism development across the five zones. Meanwhile, eight land plots were leased to bidders during the second round from Hithadhoo and Hulhudhoo.

As part of the tourism development project in Addu, 30 plots will be developed in Hithadhoo Maamen Beach Tourism Zone, and another 25 plots will be developed in Hithadhoo Keyvah Beach Maafishi Tourism Zone. In addition, 16 plots have been allocated for tourism development in Meedhoo Koagannu Beach Mulimathi Tourism Zone, while Feydhoo Savaa Beach Dhigihera Tourism Zone and Maradhoo Tourism Zone have 16 and 24 plots allocated respectively.

Developing local tourism in Addu is an important pledge of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
