Contract awarded to build 40 housing units in Manadhoo

Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure has contracted Donbez Private Limited to build 40 housing units in Manadhoo, Noonu Atoll. The agreement was signed by Director General at the Planning Ministry Ahmed Vishan and Head of Operations at Donbez Ali Hamdhoon.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Parliamentarian Ahmed Haroon noted that there was high demand for the 26 housing units built in 2008, as Manadhoo has a high population and the island is seeing rapid development. He said that there is still more need for housing due to the continual development and that the government has pledged to build 50 housing units on the island. He expressed confidence that the pledge will be fulfilled.

Donbez is required to build 40 housing units in Manadhoo within 270 days at a cost of USD619 million under a design and build policy. The project will be funded by the Public Sector Investment Programme (PSIP).

The planning ministry stated that each housing unit will span 700sqft and will consist of three rooms, three bathrooms, a kitchen, a laundry room, and a storage room. The housing units will be built in a well-lit area with a public park and vehicle parking area.
