Ministry of Health has contracted Riser Private Limited to undertaken the expansion project of the health centre in Kaashidhoo, Kaafu Atoll.

The contract for the expansion project of Kaashidhoo Health Centre was signed between the health ministry and Riser Private Limited on August 11. The project, worth USD312,000, involves the construction of an extension building to the existing health centre building.

Speaking to PSM News, Manager of Kaashidhoo Health Centre Aminath Zaki said the health centre is classified as a Level 3 healthcare facility, as per the categorisation standards of Maldivian health services, which requires the centre to be operational 24 hours a day. However, she noted the lack of space in the health centre makes it difficult to provide continuous services.

Kaashidhoo has a population of about 2,500. The health centre of the island serves 600-800 people per month. The health centre currently has a capacity of 10 beds for patient admission.
