No amendments proposed to MDP Congress regarding primary

Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has stated no amendments have been proposed to the party’s congress regarding the regulations on conducting the presidential primary.

MDP’s Congress is set to be held on August 19 at the Social Centre in Male’. During the congress, the party will deliberate on amendments proposed to the party regulations, as well as other proposals regarding the party’s operations.

Speaking to the press regarding the congress, Deputy Chairperson of MDP Ibrahim Waheed said no amendments have been proposed regarding the presidential primary. He said the amendments proposed to the congress mainly include amendments that would improve the operational structure of the party.

As per the regulations of MDP, the presidential ticket of the party would be given to the winner of the party’s presidential primary. President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Nasheed have both expressed interest in contesting for the party’s presidential ticket.
