Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has mobilised to commence Shore Protection Project in Rathafandhoo, Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll.
The scope of the project involves the construction of a 461m revetment, a 240m breakwater, and 6,600cbm of beach filling operations. MTCC is tasked with completing the project within 210 days at a cost of USD1.8 million.
MTCC aims to solve the erosion problem faced by the people of Rathafandhoo as soon as possible. The island has faced issues pertinent to soil erosion since the 1990s.
