Old Jamaluddin School building demolition to be completed next month

Minister of Education Dr. Aishath Ali has revealed the demolition of the former Jamaluddin School building for the construction of the new building of Arabiyya School will be completed next month.

The demolition of the Arabiyya School began on June 16, 2022. The project was handed over to Well Trading Private Limited to be completed within 75 days for a cost of over USD162,000.

Speaking on a programme aired on PSM News, Minister Dr. Aishath Ali said the demolition of the building of the formerJamaluddin School will be completed by September 10. The minister said the land will be handed over for construction by a company that is qualified to complete the school building within 420 days. She added the school will be designed and constructed in a way that symbolises Arabic education. She noted that the school will be equipped with all the facilities required in a school.

A new building is being constructed for Arabiyya School after signs of wear and tear were found at its old premises, including large structural cracks on the building. Meanwhile, Arabiyya School has been temporarily relocated to the MTCC Sawmill Relocation Building, which previously accommodated the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
