Tourist arrivals in July 2022 higher than pre-pandemic

Ministry of Tourism has stated the number of tourist arrivals in July 2022 was higher than in the same period of 2019.

A total of 133,561 tourists arrived in the Maldives in July this year, while 132,144 tourists arrived in July 2019 before the COVID-19 outbreak, which is an increase of 1.1%, according to the latest statistics released by the tourism ministry. The statistics showed a total of 960,075 tourists arrived in the Maldives by August 3.

According to statistics, 131,764 tourists arrived in the Maldives in January; 149,008 visitors arrived in February; 150,739 visitors arrived in March; 145,279 visitors arrived in April; 125,522 visitors arrived in May; 110,889 visitors arrived in June, and 133,561 visitors arrived in July.

The statistics show that India is the largest market, contributing to 14.4% of the total arrivals. The second highest number of tourists visited from the UK. According to the latest statistics, while an average of 4,649 tourists arrive in the Maldives each day, tourists spend an average of 8 days in the country.

The Maldives expects to welcome a total of 1.6 million tourists by the end of the year.
