Discussions have been held between the Maldives and India on enhancing military cooperation between the countries. The discussions were held during a meeting held between Chief of Defence Force Major General Abdulla Shamaal and the Chief of Army Staff of India General Manoj Pande, as part of Major General Shamaal’s ongoing official visit to India.
During the meeting, Major General Shamaal expressed gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff of India for the efforts to build the capacity of the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF). He also reiterated the need to further strengthen the ongoing military relations between the Maldives and India.
Major General Shamaal is visiting India on an official invitation of the Chief of Army Staff of India. He began the visit by laying a wreath at the National War Memorial, and was received at the South Block by a tri-services honour guard.
During the visit, the Chief of Defence Force also visited the Institute of Military Law in India to discuss strengthening the military justice system.
