Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has announced that Ibrahim Waheed has won the Deputy Chairperson of Administration seat and Ahmed Abdulla has won the Deputy Chairperson of Finance seat.
MDP opened nominations for the positions last week, as the current term will end on October 25. The main ruling party stated that only these two members submitted their nominations for the positions during the application window.
Ibrahim Waheed is the Deputy Managing Director of Fenaka Corporation Limited and the MDP President of the Upper North Province. He won the seat after the current Deputy Chairperson of Finance Ali Niyaz declined to vie for another term. Ahmed Abdulla is the current Deputy Chairperson of Administration.
MDP had planned to hold an election at the party congress scheduled for August 19 if more than one member had submitted their nominations for one of the positions.
