President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has congratulated the newly elected President of India Droupadi Murmu.
In a tweet, President Solih congratulated Droupadi Murmu on her historic election as the 15th President of India. The president said he has no doubt that the capability and experience of President-elect Murmu will lead India to greater heights, adding he looks forward to enhancing the close relations between the Maldives and India under her leadership.
Droupadi Murmu from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will be the second woman to serve as the President of India, when she takes office on July 25 at the start of a five-year term. She would also become the first Indian president from the country's tribal communities.
