AGO files 90 lawsuits during the first six months of the year

The Attorney General’s Office (AGO) has revealed that it had filed 90 lawsuits to different courts during the first six months of this year.

The latest statistics published by the AGO shows 38 lawsuits were submitted to the Family Court, 33 lawsuits in the Civil Court, nine lawsuits in the High Court, eight lawsuits in magistrate courts and two lawsuits in the Supreme Court.

The statistics also show that the AGO received 93 lawsuits against the state as of June this year. This includes 48 cases in the Civil Court, 22 cases in magistrate courts, 13 cases in the High Court, and eight cases in the Supreme Court. The other two cases are in the Employment Tribunal and the Arbitration Centre.

Additionally, AGO provided legal aid to 77 individuals during the first six months of this year. The statistics reveal that legal aid was provided mostly in cases involving minors. As such, AGO provided legal aid to 77 individuals involved in 109 cases, out of which were 40 minors involved in criminal cases.
