Foakaidhoo harbour development 87% complete

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has revealed the harbour development project in Foakaidhoo, Shaviyani Atoll is 87% complete.

The harbour development project in Foakaidhoo was contracted to MTCC by the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure in 2020. The aim of the project is to repair and upgrade the existing harbour of Foakaidhoo, and ensure the safe passage of vessels entering and exiting the harbour.

The scope of the project involves installation of 464m of concrete quay walls as well as a 100m revetment and 507m breakwater. The project also involves installation of paving blocks and harbour lights.

MTCC revealed the overall progress of the project is currently at 87%. The state-owned company said quay wall construction has already been completed, adding the company is working on finishing the remaining components of the project.

The harbour development project in Foakaidhoo was contracted to MTCC at a price of USD4.2 million.
