HPA reveals drop in COVID-19 cases last week

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has revealed the number of COVID-19 cases dropped last week compared to the previous two weeks.

As per the latest statistics shared by HPA, the Maldives recorded 771 cases of COVID-19 during the week spanning July 3-9. This was a significant decrease from the 1,202 cases recorded in the week spanning June 19-25, and the 1,134 cases recorded in the week spanning June 25 – July 2.

As per the statistics, the cases recorded last week included 192 cases from the Greater Male’ Region, 304 cases from inhabited islands in the atolls and 275 cases from resorts, industrial islands and other regions. HPA revealed 31 COVID-19 patients required hospitalisation last week.

Since COVID-19 was first detected in the Maldives in March 2020, the country has recorded 183,491 cases. The country’s COVID-19 death toll currently stands at 307.
