The Maldives Civil Aviation Authority has issued the operational license for the Maldivian Aviation Academy (MAA).
The operational license was issued to MAA after the completion of all the required inspections. MAA stated it is now preparing to commence its practical classes on July 10. MAA stated the practical classes will begin with the first batch of 35 students that completed the refresher programme conducted by the academy. The first batch includes students of the former Asian Academy Aeronautics (AAA) operated in Addu who had to discontinue their training due to a variety of reasons.
MAA further revealed the refresher programme is currently ongoing for the second batch, which includes 39 students. MAA stated it aims to complete the required flying hours of the first two batches of students by the end of the year.
MAA, inaugurated on December 28, 2021, is a collaboration between Island Aviation Services Limited (IASL), Maldives National University (MNU), and the Czech Republic-based Flying Academy. The academy is operated in Gan International Airport in Addu City.
