Maldives achieves 50% of expected tourist arrivals for the year

Ministry of Tourism reveals that the Maldives has achieved 50% of its expected total of tourist arrivals for this year.

The statistics from the tourism ministry shows that 809,603 tourists visited the Maldives in the first six months of this year, which is 60% higher than the same period last year. The Maldives tourism industry is currently in its low season and, therefore, tourist arrivals are expected to increase in the next few months.

The statistics show that the highest number of tourists visited from India in the first six months, with 119,967 arrivals or 15% of the market share. The second highest number of tourists visited from the UK with 96,176 arrivals, and the third highest number of tourists visited from Russia with 81,266 arrivals.

Additionally, over 100,000 tourist arrivals have been recorded during each of the first six months, with the highest number of tourists visiting the Maldives in March, which saw 150,000 tourist arrivals. The Maldives is also recording a daily average of 4,498 tourist arrivals.
