President inquires about situation in Madaveli following storm surges

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has spoken on the phone with President of Madaveli Island Council Fiyaz Hassan and inquired about the situation on the island after tidal surges caused by severe weather continue to affect large parts of the country.

During the call, President Solih inquired about the situation on the island and the well-being of its residents. The president was briefed about the damage caused by flooding and the ongoing relief efforts. He also assured the council that the administration will extend any necessary assistance to the island.

National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) reported that storm surges had affected 22 islands across seven atolls. NDMA is working on assisting the affected islands. Madaveli in Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll was one of the worst affected by the storm surges.
