Addu City Council has decided to establish a temporary fish market in Hithadhoo harbor.
Addu Citu Council has proposed to establish a temporary fish market in the Hithadhoo harbor area using its own equipment at additional expense. The fish market will be used until the completion of the Hithadhoo port and the establishment of a new harbor complex in Hithadhoo. About USD 6,514 has been allocated from the council budget for the establishment of this facility.
The council members who spoke on the issue said that this is a matter of many complaints from the people and that this will help to maintain health standards and stop the sale of fish in different areas of Hithadhoo. Council members said it would be difficult for the council to stop the sale of fish in different areas without providing a solution.
The council unanimously decided to temporarily develop a fish market through public works in the harbor area.
Fish is currently being cut and sold in some areas of the Hithadhoo Link Road and in some areas of the Hithadhoo harbor.
