Maldives Police Service (MPS) has stated there is no involvement of foreign parties in the investigation of leaked videos and blackmailing of some prominent political personalities of the Maldives. MPS made the statement in response to claims an investigating agency of India is assisting MPS in the matter.
In the statement issued on June 29, MPS clarified that there is no involvement of any foreign counterparts in the investigation of the blackmailing and leaked video cases. MPS assured the cases are being investigated solely by the Serious and Organised Crime Department of MPS.
Some media reports had claimed a team from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is in the Maldives for the investigation of the blackmailing and leaked videos. However, this claim has been refuted by MPS.
