Judge Ibrahim Mahir has been appointed as the acting Chief Judge of the Family Court of the Maldives.
Judge Mahir was appointed to lead the Family Court temporarily after former Chief Judge Huzaifa Mohamed was appointed to the High Court of the Maldives. Judicial Service Commission (JSC) stated the decision to appoint Judge Mahir as the acting Chief Judge was made during the 45th meeting of JSC held on June 28.
Judge Huzaifa Mohamed took her oath as a High Court Judge on June 27. She had been appointed as Chief Judge of the Family Court on March 30, making her the first female judge to lead a superior court in the Maldives.
