Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has received a large number of applications for the vacant positions at the High Court of the Maldives. The positions were left vacant after the resignation of Judge Abdul Rauf Ibrahim and the dismissal of Judge Abdulla Hameed.
Those who have submitted their applications for the positions consist of Civil Court judges Zubair Mohamed, Hafiza Abdul Sattar, Azufa Abdul Ghafoor, as well as Criminal Court Judge Dheebanaz Fahmy, and former Deputy Prosecutor General Mariyam Nihayath.
Additionally, JSC recently appointed Judge Huzaifa Mohamed to the High Court to fill the vacant position at the judges’ bench following the resignation of Judge Ali Sameer on April 17.
The salary of a High Court judge is USD2,300 with a living allowance of USD1,000 and a risk allowance of USD2,000. The judges also receive medical and phone allowances.
