Huzaifa Mohamed has taken her oath as a judge at the High Court of the Maldives.
The oath-taking ceremony was held at the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) on June 27. The oath was administered by Chief Justice Ahmed Muthasim Adnan.
Huzaifa Mohamed was previously serving as the Chief Judge of the Family Court of the Maldives. She received her letter of appointment on March 30, making her the first female judge to lead a superior court in the Maldives. She attained her Masters in Corporative Law from the International Islamic University Malaysia. She was appointed as a judge on July 11, 2007.
JSC opened applications for the vacant position at the judges’ bench of the High Court following the resignation of Judge Ali Sameer on April 17. Sameer has since been appointed as the Deputy Prosecutor General.
