Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Ahmed Zahir Ali has departed to attend the Conference of Southeast Asian Ulama, which is to be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on June 30.
The event, attended by representatives from 20 Southeast Asian countries, is being organised by the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia in coordination with the Muslim World League. The objective of the conference is to emphasise the values of moderation, strengthen friendship and cooperation among the ummah as well as spread awareness of the concept of unity, justice, and harmony among Muslim leaders and the community as a whole.
The conference will conduct dialogues on the concept of Islamic unity in light of opportunities and challenges facing Muslims in the twenty-first century, which require Muslim communities, institutions, and individuals to rejuvenate the Islamic unity, a perennial ideal throughout the history of Muslims. The conference calls for humanitarian and civilisational unity based on cooperation, solidarity, interaction, and mutual benefit in knowledge, education, culture, economy, and trade among nations and societies.
