Gov’t opens applications for 3,000 land plots and 4,000 housing units

Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure has opened applications for 3,000 land plots in Gulhifalhu under the “Binveriyaa” housing scheme and 4,000 housing units in Hulhumale’ under the “Gedhoruveriyaa” housing scheme.

The two housing schemes are dedicated for citizens of Male’ City. Applications for both schemes have been opened through the newly launched housing application portal “Gedhoruverin”.

The land plots under Binveriyaa housing scheme will be allocated from a land spanning 3,750,000sqft in Gulhifalhu. The land plot awarded for each application will have a minimum size of 1,250sqft, with 400sqft added per person in a joint application. A maximum size of 4,000sqft will be awarded if seven or more people apply jointly.

Eligibility criteria for the land plots include being a citizen of Male’ over the age of 18 who does not own or is willing to release a land plot in the Greater Male’ Region bigger than 600sqft. Applicants must also not have received any housing units under a previous social housing scheme.

Meanwhile, the eligibility criteria for housing units under the Gedhoruveriyaa scheme include being a citizen of Male’ City over the age of 18, who have registered in or have been living in Male’ for the past 15 years. Applicants must not have received a housing unit under a previous social housing scheme, and must not have purchased a housing unit or land plot bigger than 600sqft in Male’ City.

Although applications have been opened for both schemes through the Gedhoruverin portal, each individual can only apply for one scheme. Details of the eligibility criteria and awarding policies are available at the portal.
