Maldives marketed to 65 million people in 2021

Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has revealed that the Maldives was marketed as a top travel destination to 65 million people in 2021.

Speaking at the annual general meeting of the Maldives Association of Tourism Industry (MATI), Managing Director of MMPRC Thoyyib Mohamed noted the Maldives won awards for being a leading travel destination for two consecutive years and that the most important work done to maintain this position was to diversify the tourism market. He noted that more travellers want to have different experiences instead of relaxation and therefore more work needs to be done to cater to such travellers.

Furthermore, Thoyyib said MMPRC continues to market the Maldives and had conducted marketing campaigns in 14 countries and reaching 65 million people last year. He said the recently launched Redefining MICE campaign also aims to diversify the Maldives tourism industry.

MMPRC launched Redefining MICE global campaign to promote the country as a preferred meeting, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE) destination. The campaign was launched during a special luncheon held on the sidelines of the MICE India and Luxury Travel Congress held in Grand Hyatt Mumbai in October 2021.
