Bar exam postponed to November

The Bar Council of the Maldives has decided to postpone its exam to November 19. The decision was made the decision after many law students expressed concern over the exam.

The bar council had opened registrations for the exam and will be accepting a registration fee of USD650. Those who have registered for June will be able to take part in the exam to be held in November.

Additionally, an amendment was proposed at the Parliament of the Maldives to address the concerns regarding the exam. As such, Parliamentarian Ahmed Usham proposed that legal professionals that had not received a license to practice law before the ratification of the Legal Profession Act be excluded from participating in the exam.

Several legal professionals have expressed concern over the large fees charged for the exam.
