Essential services to be established in Holhumeedhoo

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has stated essential services will be provided in Hulhumeedhoo once the land-use plan is approved for the island. He visited Holhudhoo, Noonu Atoll, and met with the island council and women’s development committee (WDC) members where he inquired about the current situation of the island and the projects.

At the meeting, the island’s community leaders expressed their gratitude to the president for the developmental progress seen on the island under his administration. The council members discussed their most pressing needs and concerns with the president during the meeting. The council members asked the president about plans to address Meyna School's challenges, including the need for sports facilities, coastal protection, and road construction. They also discussed the development of the uninhabited island of Holhumeedhoo with the president, as well as their concerns about the new healthcare center project, the need for a larger mosque, and the expediting of the police station project.

Speaking about the administration's development plans for the island, the president stated that the challenges confronting Meyna School would be addressed appropriately, and that essential services would be established in Holhumeedhoo with the approval of its land-use plan. He informed the representatives that the road construction project would begin once the water and sewerage system projects were completed and that funds would be set in the budget for coastal protection the following year. He also stated that the police station project was progressing according to plan and that the administration would seek ways to address the concerns raised at the meeting.
