Gov’t to develop Holhumeedhoo under jurisdiction of Holhudhoo

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has revealed that the administration plans to commence the development of the uninhabited island of Holhumeedhoo under the jurisdiction of Holhudhoo, Noonu Atoll.

Speaking at Meyna School’s diamond jubilee anniversary event, President Solih announced his decision to relocate a housing project earlier designated for Holhudhoo to Holhumeedhoo. The president noted the housing issues in Holhudhoo and said that there was no space for land reclamation on the island. He, therefore, said that the administration aims to populate nearby Holhumeedhoo by developing 30 housing units on the uninhabited island. As such, he said that the development of essential services will soon begin in Holhumeedhoo under the jurisdiction of Holhudhoo.

Furthermore, President Solih spoke about the administration’s developmental plans for Holhudhoo and said it will announce the tender for the coastal protection project in July. He also said that the road construction project will commence with the completion of the ongoing water supply network project.

At the ceremony, President Solih also highlighted the efforts to further the education sector, including the numerous infrastructure projects progressing across the country. He said this includes the construction of new classrooms, multipurpose halls, science laboratories, and office buildings.
