President reiterates commitment to equitable development

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has reiterated his commitment to ensuring equitable development of all islands, regardless of the political views of their respective communities. He made the remarks during a meeting with the members of the Funadhoo Island Council and Women’s Development Committee (WDC).

At the meeting, the council members expressed their gratitude to President Solih and his administration for assuring them of continued developmental progress, including land reclamation and coastal protection work. The president and the representatives also discussed the other developmental needs of the residents. The council members noted the need to develop the roads leading to the airport and the changes required in the harbour before commencing the Raajje Transport Link (RTL) ferry services. They also shared their concerns about the football ground and youth centre development projects.

Speaking at the meering, President Solih assured the local council and WDC that the administration will address and resolve the concerns raised at the meeting. He reiterated his commitment to ensuring equitable development of all islands, regardless of the political views of their respective communities.

After the meeting, President Solih met with the senior management of Shaviyani Atoll’s healthcare facilities to discuss challenges and opportunities to further healthcare services. Discussions at the meeting also focused on addressing budget constraints, human resource shortages, and difficulties in procuring medical and pharmaceutical supplies. The president spoke about the administration’s plans to improve healthcare services across the country and said it would find ways to ease any challenges.

Additionally, President Solih visited some government offices and institutions, including the Funadhoo Police Station and the Family and Children’s Service Centre. He also inspected the beach area affected by coastal erosion.
