The US-Maldives joint military exercise “Black Marlin” has been successfully completed.
The joint military exercise was conducted by the US First Battalion Fifth Security Force Assistance Brigade (SFAB) and the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) from May 15 to June 10. Participants of the exercise received their certificates during the closing ceremony held at the MNDF Headquarters on June 16.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Chief of Defence Force Major General Abdulla Shamaal said the exercise marks the beginning of a new chapter for the US-Maldives defence and security cooperation. He said such exercises would strengthen the military ties between the two countries and pave the way for more engagements in the future.
Exercise Black Marlin was aimed at training the military for operational tasks, enhancing the capabilities of military personnel, and identifying and strengthening the operational readiness and capability of the military. The training exercise was completed by 70 officers of MNDF.
